Marshall Wind Telephone

Marshall, North Carolina, United States

Unfortunately, the location for this wind telephone can no longer be shared. It is down a private drive with multiple houses, and the neighbors complained about visitors likely due to the drive being one lane and gravel with few if any turnoffs. I had a photo of the approaching view, but I deleted it so it’s less accessible. It’s an amazing setup, however, with solar lights illuminating the entire area around the phone and the booth itself. Many people have left memorial rocks on the rail ties around the booth. There is a box inside under the phone that has paper and pens for notes which can be left in the Wind Mail box.

This booth which is a stunning replica of the one in Japan (albeit with some differences) is a build I haven’t figured out, but I’m emailing the steward to find out if it was purchased or built by them.
